Look, date local but socialize mostly with other expats. Hanging out with Chinese folks isn't very fun after you've been in China for a while. Most other expats will usually have Monday and Tuesday off and this is when you have fun. The odd time you'll find a cool Chinese dude to kick it with but to date girls there you don't need to have a social life among Chinese whatsoever.

I've done that a collective year or two in some far flung places in China. Hohhot and Deyang.

Wuhan is an awesome city. Good place to learn Chinese. I've never been regrettably, but I know about it.

What makes you say that? Dialect is close to standard Mandarin or something?
I'm getting FOMO not being in 广州/成都/上海 but perhaps it's for my own sanity, and it'll let me transmute all energy into getting as good at Mandarin as possible for the next year

Because it's where the old crossroads. Anyone going north, South, East or West by train in the old days usually had to pass through Wuhan.

Shanghai is no good. Not very fun.

More Chinese people might be out at the clubs on Saturday and Sunday but that's not where you want to pull from for any sort of relationship. For sex just talk to girls. Cold approaching will yield results in China. Use the pretence of needing help with something then see if you can't kid around with her before getting her WeChat.

As for schools 24 hours with no office hours is good. It's salary based right? All that means is you just gotta show up and teach when you have class and leave when you're done. You don't have to sit in an office watching a clock. You should be able to get a job like that for at least 20,000 kuai a month with no experience or qualifications. That's a good contract.

Just act confident in the interviews. As long as you can let kids have fun while controlling them for 30 minutes on the spot and d you're a native speaker they don't care if you've got experience.

That's the only way I could see this not being sad as hell, I seriously doubt you could even pull from those chinese table clubs even if you went lol. If you've really lived in China for that long you should know that the entire country runs on Guanxi, having more friends and knowing more people will only help you, and if your chinese is even half decent there's lots of chinese dudes who are good bros (imo zoomer chinese girls tend to be kind hit on miss on that end). If you take care of them they will take care of you, or maybe those chinese dudes think you're a loser and don't really want to interact with you more than necessary.
Anyhow I had more more fun and crazy experiences having the right guy friends compared to only trying to find girls to fuck, food for thought.

That's the only way I could see this not being sad as hell, I seriously doubt you could even pull from those chinese table clubs even if you went lol. I only really enjoy hanging out with other expats. You are a foreigner. For you there's only face and friendships with others who do have guanxi.

Chinese dudes are just generally boring. I had a Uyghur friend in Urumqi but other than that I've never had any Chinese male friends. Nobody is just want to hang out with.

Anyways, I'm 37 years old. I have been living in USA with my Chinese wife and kid since 2021. I speak Chinese and have pulled from those stupid tables at those stupid clubs.

I've had good experiences with Chinese acquaintances. Like Chinese business people I've known who have taken me to real KTVs after closing a deal with a friend. Or have gotten tours of factories in Wenzhou while pretending to be representing a big American company. I would never consider any of these people friends though.

My point was as a foreigner you don't need to have Chinese friends, or "guanxi", to get top quality women. If you do then you're just a loser.
