Look, date local but socialize mostly with other expats. Hanging out with Chinese folks isn't very fun after you've been in China for a while. Most other expats will usually have Monday and Tuesday off and this is when you have fun. The odd time you'll find a cool Chinese dude to kick it with but to date girls there you don't need to have a social life among Chinese whatsoever.

I've done that a collective year or two in some far flung places in China. Hohhot and Deyang.

Wuhan is an awesome city. Good place to learn Chinese. I've never been regrettably, but I know about it.

What makes you say that? Dialect is close to standard Mandarin or something?
I'm getting FOMO not being in 广州/成都/上海 but perhaps it's for my own sanity, and it'll let me transmute all energy into getting as good at Mandarin as possible for the next year
