Geomax Current mood: too much to handle on Tinder

Date's over, no video sorry, but I'll get one next time

She's a 5, maybe 5.5. I mildly mog her. 165cm so not short or tall, quite slender, somewhat athletic, but she's a competitive video gamer. Thin face, big eyes, good dimensions, but just has kind of that "melted" look you know? That's a super mean way of putting it but the features sort of blend together without definition.

Date went pretty well, we went to get some Japanese food, I talked WAY too much about Japan (she said multiple times "your body is in China, but your heart is in Japan" or something). She taught me a phrase, 一会走走, which means like "let's go for a walk". She advised me to use it when I date other girls, instead of abruptly ending the date after dinner, tell them this. She was joking about the "other girls" part but of course it's not a joke to me!

We were walking around, I was like "huh your hands are big" or something and I used that as an opportunity to hold hands with her, we walked around and then went home, turns out she lives super close to me, not walkable but a couple train stops away.

Here's the weird thing: at the end of the date she was like "There is something that you didn't notice, I'm not going to tell you what it is. I wonder if this thing is important to foreign guys. I will be surprised if you don't notice it." I am quite sure the thing she's referring to is that she seems to have some kind of lazy eye. It's not really a lazy eye, I don't know what to call it, but when she looks at me one of her eyes is slightly pointed incorrectly. It's not a big deal, easy to miss. So I hope that's what she's referring to.
when do you attempt 1st date fuck/slay vs having multiple dates?

Thanks @Rance for the report!

Interesting last paragraph as many Chinese girls seem to have a mild form of esotropia.

What do you think about China so far in terms quality of life, service, girls?

Always always always try to align the conditions to make it easy to "appear" at your home. This was so easy for me in Tokyo, we'd go out to eat, then go to a bar or something, then walk and boom, we're at my door.

In China, I don't live too close to the big hub area, although there's a little bar and entertainment district near me home which I'll invite her out to for the second date. I'm not entirely comfortable with asking a girl to take a taxi to my house yet on the first date, not very sure how to pop the question, but I got the vibe that it didn't feel right at that time since she had to get up early for work.

Basically, you should always be attempting. No girl is going to get mad that you try to do it, which I think is a blue pill myth. As long as you're graceful when she rejects. I think a safe way to try to close a first date lay is something like "come check out my apartment... I have a cat/I have a wine collection/the view is insane... and I have air conditioning!" This way it's kind of obvious what you're trying to do, but easy to turn down.

Yess one-eye esotropia, that's it.

QoL is the highest I've ever experienced, relative to how much I can spend, that is. Everyone is so nice to me too. I get a lot of attention but perhaps not as much as I expected. I've only had one "photoshoot moment", a shirtless sweaty guy and his cute girlfriend wearing hanfu took a selfie with me in a restaurant. Other than that mostly just quick stares on the street.

I can only eyeball (ha) the quality and quantity of girls since I've only been on one date. My feeling is that I will ascend more rapidly than I did in Tokyo. Too many messages to reply to on Tinder, which is a new experience for me, though I never really used such dating apps in Tokyo.

My reports will get more frequent and more detailed in the coming days! I think I have 4 girls who want to go out with me this weekend, including the girl I just went on a date with. So 1-2 will need to be cut out. Drama!

nice

闲逛 means to wander around without really having a clear goal, just strolling, when i used it to a chinese guy (闲逛一下) he said that was a pretty native level thing to say but that's a n=1 observation.

also when you want to say 'local' eg for food you can use 地道 which is also a native kind of way to say it i heard from multiple people

chinese lesson over

keep us updated

Chinese people, and women especially for some reason, don't like Japan and seem to be repulsed by Japanese men. They get crazy offended if someone calls them Japanese too as for them it's a bad insult. If you're feeling mischievous you can get some funny reactions and rants out of them on the subject.

当地 is a non-native way of saying it?
nah it's just that chinese people don't hear non-natives use 地道 often ime

edit: found some threads about it https://hinative.com/questions/16720194 https://www.italki.com/en/post/question-302444

地道 is probably more like 'authentic' now that i looked it up, i mostly use it for food like i said in my post. 这个美食很地道 this food is very authentic.

i stand corrected eitherway, even though i think the two overlap somewhat in context (if i see two signs with "local sichuan food" and "authentic sichuan food" somewhere in areas other than sichuan i wouldn't differentiate between the two in meaning)

I think it really depends, especially among young people it can vary wildly, and sometimes feels like a love-hate relationship

how many foreigners have you seen around?
Very very few, virtually zero. If you walk around the city on a weekend night when it's slammed, you'll see tens of thousands of people over the course of an hour. Maybe four or five of them will be "visibly non-Chinese foreigners". And maybe only one of those will be white. Most non-East Asian foreigners seem to be from Central Asia, and to a lesser extent Pakistan/Bangladesh. I haven't seen a black person yet

That’s cool; maybe Tier 2’s and lower are the way to go nowadays since the country is much more developed and you’ll get extra “JBX” effect in those places for an even greater SMV boost, or is that wrong since you’re not getting that much attention?

The quality of women at that point is bound to be lower. Everyone wants to be in cool cities like Shanghai.

The upper Tier 2’s/Tier 1.5’s/New Tier 1’s should provide a good balance and I think they may be better options than the old Tier 1’s nowadays in theory, but I’d have to explore a bunch of cities there first to determine if this is true; are you in Wuhan yet?

I mean yeah they're good. The ambiguity of not including "new tier 1" in "tier 1" is pretty annoying. Somewhere like Chongqing has a population of 32 million for god's sake.

I still have 2 weeks in the sewer

It would depend on your chinese level no? Tier 2 cities and lower (not the new tier 1) are gonna have very low levels of english. Unless you know chinese your dating pool is going to be incredibly small.

And the amount of foreigners is already very small everywhere, how much of a difference will it make to be in a city with 0.1% foreign population vs 0.001%?
You are already extremely exotic, and at that point its up to you to be attractive enough to pull the girls you want. There's 0 competition.

I can’t speak about all T1 cities, but the difference between SH and a T2 is like night and day in terms of JBW.

One of the only upsides of living in a T1 (Beijing, SH) is that it gives some minor prestige boost if you tell your family and ppl in your country, but that’s about it. In terms of cost of living, T2 cities seem to have the best quality to price ratio.

what's your chinese level?
and how do you date lots of girls there if theres no english speakers and dating apps are basically empty?

Doesnt JBW still work as long as you're decent looking and tall in Shanghai?

If by decent looking you mean 4.5 PSL, then no.

If HTN+ you will get attention, as you would get elsewhere.

Holy fuck is this so true, particularly relative to Tokyo. The girls here know WAY LESS ENGLISH. I will give my further date reports soon but I need to up my Chinese level fast, because there are are so many cute girls interested in me whom I think are going to fizzle because I just can't fucking communicate with them. At least in Tokyo there was more of a baseline of "we can communicate in basic English and use my rudimentary Japanese to supplement", no, in Hangzhou these girls know basically nothing.

The next generation of geomaxxers shall thank @Rance for his service as, unironically, he's teaching English to the very girls whom they will date.

Mind you, I had to use Microsoft Translator (Google being unavailable in China) to communicate with the receptionist in the hotel in SH. But I have no right to criticize as my Chinese is no better than their English.
