It's really boring to stay put in one place for weeks on end. I'd rather stay on the move and pay nightly rates, it keeps life interesting and maximizes the chances of something happening.

Wishful thinking. If anything, it's the opposite. Your novelty as a foreigner is strongest when you first show up, and wears off with every day you linger. This is particularly true in smaller places that don't see many foreigners.
