I'm 28 I have $100k invested $50k savings, in my country I'm able to save around $3k a month. I hate it here and want to quit my IT job and living in Asia. The thing is I lucked into this job, I have no degree but have 6 years of work experience now. I am thinking about living on $1000 a month in Thailand or Philippines and during my first few years try to work remotely in IT (difficult because the market is shit right now). I'm just scared for my future, I won't build up pension anymore in my home country and I'm not sure I can get remote income. Please give me your opinion what you would do in my position.

yes bro. go where you're happiest. if you work for a company from your country remotely can you still build up a pension?
i think i would have to set up my own company and be a contractor or freelance or something. i dont think you can just work and earn pension when not even living there. i woud probably have to do it myself. anyway ive already decided to quit in the coming months.

do you live in asia? and if so where?

is there 0 chance of being able to convince your boss into going remote?
if that's not possible try to apply to remote jobs while you keep your current one

you can always yolo and move to asia, but the most likely outcome is you will have to be back in a few years when the money runs out

where are you from? can you work as an english teacher?

Short answer: I advise every manlet to leave the West permanently because you will be miserable unless you have top 1% luck.

Long answer: 150k is a lot, I could live 3+ years off that easily in SEA and that’s more than enough time to learn how to make money online if you actually try and as long as you don’t pick something that needs lots of spending money like ecom (testing products/ads). Even if you start making a little bit that will also stretch the time as well.

But SEA is having an energy crisis right now so maybe the whole region will collapse, something to consider

But the important question is if you think strongly about how you would like to spend the next ten years of your life.

Living on 1k a month will be hard now that everything will go up ever groceries going up
