Story I just got NT-checked in Phillipines

What is NT checking?

This happens so often in USA and Western Europe. It’s so rare in Asia, especially for SEA and it makes me pissed.

Usually happens in social areas, but can happen at restaurants. The NT guy NT checking you starts off by noticing some non-NT behavior and decides to press you, “why are you here, where are your friends etc.” and so on.. A lot of the times they will check if you know local language too.

I passed with flying colors because I’m too experienced lying about my history, “I just came from siagrao where all my friends are leaving tomorrow. just on vacation going back to USA tommroow”. Even though I’ve been here for months LMFAO.

They come to make sure you are NT, and press you (not sure why?). I’ve failed these tests before by

A. Shutting down conversation (they get pissy and clown you)
B. Being semi-honest (usually they drown on about how weird your behavior is, or suggest you are lying etc. doing something suspicious)

How to win? Make up short witted lies that are in tune with how the masses function. You are on a 7 day vacation. It’s your day off from work? Your friends are nearby. You have a girlfriend in USA. Super fucking annoying. You can’t even peacefully be weird in isolation.

It just is NT fatigue. Why the fuck do you care that I’m weird? That I’m alone? That I’m isolated? NT blacklist you for being weird, and once you try to isolate yourself (as they desire) they come and NT check you and clown you while alone. You really can’t win wtf is this?

It’s happened to me before but for some reason I can’t remember the details of the interactions

And especially in ph, some fat middle aged guy will come up saying I look like some basketball player or sum bs and then i have to think of a way to leave which ends up making me look non nt

It doesn’t happen to me in china tho. Other than Shanghai Guangzhou Chengdu and Hong Kong…

I’m just trying to make sense of them. Over time I’ve learned how to evade them and jump over their tricks and traps. But I don’t understand the mechanisms behind it.
