I rarely spend over 100usd on a flight. I almost always go to the cheapest destination of whatever city Im flying out of. BKK to Kolkata cost me 88eur that's like 85usd with 30kg baggage included. I spent like 25usd on the visa and then 170eur on my half of the airbnb. Thats like 275usd or smthn that still leaves me with a bunch of money to spend on food and activities.

Flights between regional countries are cheap, you can get flights for less than 50$ in SEA, and most guys with low budget will max out tourist visa, so they are getting 1 flight every 2-3 months on average.
