How do you get a long term visa to China that isn’t English teaching?

I know there's some plays with business visas but I'm not too enlightened on that.

Another thing you can do is enroll in a language school, can go for pretty long but you would need the money for it, costs more $ especially if you want to enroll somewhere like shanghai etc (plus rent, usually can't get into the dorms if enrolling in a major university) think it falls under x1 or similar visas

Houses are like 20k but the truth is even with job its so hard to stay there permanently.

In Thailand they are so cheap the language visa prob got more now.

I'm not an expert in China but I'm not aware of any easy visa as you would find in Thailand, Philippines, or latam countries

If you are willing to marry that's an easy one but will obviously require to marry
Language school, but you will need to attend classes

Some kind of multi entry visa but you will need to do visa runs, and won't be considered resident

10 year visa
gotta do runs every 60 days though right? my friend has one, i might apply for it as a backup if im ever in between visas to save me the hassle of applying in the future.

With these kinds of visas with short time limits you never know when you'll get denied at the border.

I fear being in the situation of trying to come back to your chinese apartment on one of those visas and being denied, meanwhile all your stuff is in there, brutal minimalism pill.

Tutors and language schools are a meme unless you're well into intermediate/advanced stage and want to refine your pronunciation. Not much else. Just spend your time comprehending characters and understanding speech before you try to worry about your pronunciation or getting tones perfect or whatever. With enough input over time you will naturally learn many of these things unconsciously.

I'd agree on the language school for sure but do you really think tutor is a bad idea for a pure beginner? What do you think one should start with? I was thinking 1 on 1 in person tutoring would be quite affordable in a t2 city and a nice experience once a day.

y not teach english and get a private chink tutor? I'm thinking of doing this, i pretty much dropped the whole language school plan
I plan to have an English teaching job lined up a few months before I complete language school. That way I'll be in China with, hopefully, HSK5, so the transition is smoother than being thrown abruptly into a foreign country with a language I am unfamiliar with. Yeah, I can learn Chinese at home, but I miss the school setting life + I'll be around younger chicks

1 year of going to some Chinese uni to learn Chinese kinda prolongs my rotting before life gets serious. Also, it was a much faster route out of Ohio for me. I will still have to finish degree before getting a job which isn't really an issue

u never geomaxxed before?

Also i too miss the school life i actually thought about doing it for those exact reasons but i would prob be looksminned from marpe so it would be super low ROI so that's another nail in the coffin for me to not do it.

All things considered it’s a massive expense on top of uprooting yourself just to learn something you can do at home
But it’s whatever. Experience is worth it and I already have everything lined up.
