I got my kid in boot camp there right now. He's back living between Jinan and the village for two months and 10 days. He's too spoiled here in the US and he's not producing enough Chinese so I decided to send him there for a while. My wife's getting a lot of paperwork done as well. What specifically about the tones do you find difficult? I heard similar squeamishness about the tones before I began learning, but it turns out the tones are not all too difficult. There's only four of them. You just say them, and that's it. There's more difficult aspects of the language.

I would even say from what I've noticed on Chinese social media that being above 180 cm and having blue or green eyes can make up for many things that otherwise would have left someone with zero chance
