Settling in is a trap, you stop appreciating what makes a place great and instead get increasingly bothered by the imperfections. The only happy expats I've met are those who have a social circle of expats. Settling in also makes one lazy. No point in going out exploring when you've already walked the same streets a dozen times or more. Every low point in my travels has occurred when I chose to stick around a place for longer than a week. So no, 60 days visa exempt in Thailand is enough, and those two months should involve visiting at least 12 different cities and towns.
