Tourists are bad by standing out too much.
Acting out of place. Everyone identifies this problem and always complains about it.
Like the boomer white woman standing in front of the geisha

But I would like to propose an equally bad thing:
Looking out of place. If you travel somewhere and you're dressed like a slob or a walmart person, or you're wearing atypical clothes, or you're lugging around a heavy backpack and sweating from it, you are disrespecting and bringing down the place you are going to. You need to looksmatch or exceed the place you are travelling to, out of respect.

Look at the photos of the boomers. Disgusting. Desecrating the place.
Can any philosopher explain to me why I feel so disgusted and a sense of despair looking at these photos? Is it their gleeful almost smug ignorance and lack of self awareness? You can tell they really do not understand and are not experiencing the culture. It's like theyre just on a curated tour. (These photos are from a tourguide website so figures)

Which tourists are worse? Blacks, white boomer couples, chinese aunties, young chinese couples, roudy whites (Tiktokkers/drunks), hippy backpackers, boomer sexpats, obnoxious americans, indians, tourgroups in general.

Yeah yeah yeah. You know what? I guarantee that wherever I'm at in the world there are more people from that place in my country than there are from mine in theirs. And they're sure as hell not all behaving themselves.

Idiots are everywhere. And I think it's pretty entertaining when you run into the ones from your country, or at least from the West, in certain places. It doesn't make me feel embarrassed. It's entertaining.

I ran into a boomer couple like the one in the 3rd picture when I was in Vietnam one time. After coming off a 6 month ice binge I was staying at a hotel in Saigon district 1 and eating breakfast at this restaurant every morning. There was an old tourist couple I met three days in a row. The husband had fought in Vietnam actually but you wouldn't know it by looking at him. He was a bumbling idiot. Over the course of three days we had traded stories. They knew I had spent the last seven years in Asia and was currently detoxing from a substance. On the third day the man kind of had a meltdown and asked me what the hell I was doing living in Asia when I could be living in USA. He could understand visiting another country as a tourist but he couldn't fathom anyone wanting to live outside the US. He got kind of retarded about it and embarrassed his wife.

No there are not more japanese people in america than americans in japan.

Also I'd 1000% rather see a rowdy drunk japanese person in japan than see a rowdy drunk tourist in japan.

But it's not just about acting like an idiot. It's about looking out of place due to a lack of self awareness. They're just NPCs, and the identification of this just becomes more stark when they are outside of their natural habitat.

There are 1.4 million Japanese living in USA. There are some 66,000 Americans living in Japan.

Tourists think of Japan as some kind of resort, and believe that by paying the (admittedly quite expensive) flight tickets and hotels, they’re entitled to be treated as privileged customers who transcend the basic rules of aesthetics.

This is it, good point. It's also they're so insulated in their subculture back home (The other boomers who watch TV and go to the pub with them) that they think they are dressing nice.
Or equivalent for black americans wearing tracksuits everywhere. They think they're dressing nice
Or whites dressing like normie whites

These look like normal tourist having fun. Nothing wrong with enjoying trip with friends

Worst are sexpats or Bali guys fighting each other
