you can get a 140sqm 3 bedroom 2 bathroom high rise apartment that faces the sunset in any city other than shanghai and beijing for $500

and it’s easy af to date

so why not?

Crazy internet makes it hard for me to make zoom calls for my work and don’t think I can get a long term visa like Thailand where I am applying for DTV next week

1000mbps internet for $10 a month + vpn

and yea i guess the visa thing is an issue for most people

I had a friend tell me the VPN speed is crazy variable and cuts out a lot, I’m gonna try and go their short term one day and try and work it out though

what do you do? are you employed or freelancer?

Yes one of my female students showed me her apartment in Shanghai. Broke down cost of living for me.

She studied in Edinburgh and we're comparing cost of living there with UK.

Freelance video editor / content agency stuff, have clients under both (I make like 3-4K a month, still a brokie)
where do you find clients? i want to get the DTV too but my remote employee job won't let me leave for more than 90 days at a time.

lots of people have made guides on how to fake it, just do that

i get everyone needs their thailand arc but surely it’s overplayed by now! (it’s not)

let’s go civil war max in myanmar!

Lived there for a year. It's the every day living for me. Just too many damn people, the spitting, lack of manners sometimes, internet as you know it doesn't exist, and just that you feel like sooo much like an outsider as a westerner. It wears down on you. If you are going to live there for the girls, you better be getting the Stacey-lites to make it worth it. And stacey-lites and higher are very rare anyways. Land of easy light-skinned 5s. No Thanks. Not worth it long term when considering everything.

i guess people are different

i prefer being the only one of my kind in the area

it feels more special when i see another american

not that i would talk to them

thailand drains me more than china with the europeans and americans on every corner compared to not seeing any in china

-internet sucks, you need VPN for anything western and chinese apps for everything else
-visas are hard to get
-low levels of english and no expat community
-the average chinese girl isn't as easy as other countries

you need to be a very specific kind of person to like china longterm
at the end of the day there's no big reason to be there for most unless you really like chinese culture + girls
i can't imagine many people wanting to build a life there

most people pretend they like adventure but in the end they like everything to be easy and have other expats around
see all the nomads staying in the same neighborhoods, cafes, restaurants in the same 10-15 cities

All pros
VPN is literally an app on your phone, you can get literal 10 year visa as an American despite being their political enemy, and the last 2 ensures no sexpats. Stop the cope

I used to love china. in recent years taiwan feels better to me overall. taiwan I get maybe 20 or so likes a day on tinder. chinese apps are populated by bots and as far as I can see fewer people use them than in the past. several people accused me of being an AI. they also work a lot and its hard to get them out. I think most chinese would probably just rather not have sex.

alex advised me to approach more, that would probably solve about half of my problems. but one of the big appeals of parts of asia is just being able to get them to come to you. that seems to be dead in china.\

I'm gonna make the rounds and probably eventually come back to china. the world changes fast. but at the moment its not my preferred place.

mostly true except the first point. internet is not slow at all lol

and people make a big deal with muh vpns for work purposes but honestly your work website prob doesn’t even require a vpn to access. just email would

Hey guys I'm probably gonna be moving to China for work to teach a stem subject once I get my license so I'll be trying to do this.

Wasn't originally my plan to become a teacher and it's certainly not my first choice of a career but the tech field is shit for the foreseeable future and I dont even like most tech jobs save data analysis anyways. Anyways fed up with living in the US with all of its current drawbacks so gonna make the plunge.

I previously visited the Tier 1s pre covid and did get with a girl there beforehand but will be trying to a job in the Tier 2s so I can date 7+ girls.

What kind of license? A teaching license?

i dont mean slow, i mean it sucks because everything will require you vpn or chinese apps
which can be a hassle if you are working, having zoom calls... (i know its probably way easier than it looks to have a stable setup but can't be bothered when i can visit many other countries before that)

Chongqing or Chengdu, possibly Changsha as some of the girls look slightly curvier than in most other regions based on some street youtube videos as while I dont mind china dolls that have washboard bodies, I prefer a bit more meat on the bones:

Unfortunately, I have to avoid more northern cities like Qingdao or ones in Dongbei since I suffer from psoriasis which would be exacerbated in the more extreme cold and dry winters there.

Also for those that care about the intelligence of girls and are curious about the breakdown by province, another benefit of Hunan seems to be the higher avg IQ there compared to Sichuan/Chongqing.

Good to know China is an option as well. Seems like a lot of you guys had good times there!

Some interesting points, some false conclusions, but its got some interesting ideas:

Cognitive scientists recognise two broad modes of thought – a fast, automatic, relatively inflexible mode, and a slower, more analytical, flexible one. Each has its uses, depending on the context, and their relative frequency in a population has long been assumed to be stable. David Rand, a psychologist at Yale University, though, argues that populations might actually cycle between the two over time.

Seems like China is in the analytical cycle, while much of the West is......

Well, as the article concludes:
“We are a species that muddles through,” he says. “That’s all we’ve ever done, and all we’ll ever do.”

I don't know mandarin and I feel connected to family. It's hard to get visa long term I heard but proove me wrong. Other than dating away from making any friends

That's very smart in Philippines it's only 85 which is very low and hard to make convos with most girls or people

Yeah anecdotally even in the more elite areas of Makati and BGC in Manila they are still lacking. Did get with a girl there that completed an engineering degree and was def above avg by western standards but had to sort through a lot of them

Unfortunately I completly skip dating apps now. In LTR for one year already

Can you actually find really hot girls in China as a gaijin? I mean like the ones you see on webms, or is all of that AI fake news facetune?

There are really hot girls in China...but the question is do YOU have the leverage to compete. Really hot Chinese girls have a shit ton of options just like anywhere else. If you are all around mediocre in terms of value, you can mainly forget about them.

they surely have less options of hot men than attractive females in the west. that is the whole point of geomaxxing, increasing your own value by changing location

increasing your own value doesn't mean you can date the hottest girls

lets say you are aiming for the top 1% chinese girls
have you seen the top 1% chinese guys in the t1 cities? they are tall, good style, gymaxxed, rich... how are you going to compete against those?
why would a top chinese girl choose a white normie?

if what you like is not only the top 1% but lets say the top 20-30%, its very easy because you now have exotic factor against nerdy chinese looking guys

dating the top 1% as a normie is not achievable anywhere in the world unless you get lucky, use lots of money or dont know what the truly 1% looks like

you say one in 100 girls in china is rich gymmaxxed tall and really good looking? i think you do not even have to go for the top 1 % to find happiness, top 10 % is fine and surely achievable for a decent looking white male despite language barrier

im saying it's unrealistic to want to date a 1% women as a normie foreigner because the options they have are way better than you
and yes lots of delusional guys think they deserve those kind of women just because they are white

Yeah im trying to looksmax before I go. I am late 20s and 5'10 to 5'11 and while I am white, I am not blue eyed or blonde and have the block jaw that some Asian girls don't prefer.

However my face is chadlite by western standards and while I still have a bit too much body fat, that shouldn't be a problem for much longer as I have been going to the gym regularly for the past 3 years and am muscular. Just never managed to completely burn the fat off till now as i didnt do enough cardio and was consuming too many carbs. I'd say once I get under 20% body fat Ill be close to or at a male 8.

I have no illusions about dating the top 1% but as explorer7878 mentioned, 90th percentile is what i will aim for so again 7-8 range. Currently learning Mandarin and am around HSK 1 level as I previously passed it a few years back but then stagnated for a while before picking it back up recently.

My only concern would be an age gap issue long term as I want to date early 20s girls for as long as possible.

what is your plan in China? how do you want to stay long term with tourist visa and make money?

I'll be there on a work visa as I will be applying to bilingual and low level intl schools

Longer term not sure maybe move up into a schools admin but depending on how things go I may eventually go somewhere else.
