What are dating (app) results in Shanghai like compared to other cities in China?

For those of us on here who have used apps like Bumble in numerous cities across China, are the results in Shanghai as solid as any others/better or are the bitches there brutal?

Number of actual meetups is at least equally as significant as the number of matches is the main reason I ask, because obviously with ~30M people and a large userbase due to the international atmosphere, you're bound to get something I assume

When I ran a stacyfish in a few random cities in Asia (age range set to 21-24 iirc), it was one of the craziest ones next to Tokyo. A bunch of kpop celebrity looking 190cm+ motherfuckers. Most of the foreigners were usually pretty low appeal though; usually either really dimorphic/gymmaxxed/heavy stubble or soycuck English teacher failo. But then the occasional model from Russia who actually has good collagen/hair/fashion/etc.
Idk; I'd like to assume it would be an excellent place to live but I'm scared of getting mogged into oblivion

I personally am rethinking taking a teaching job there due to that and also it probably won’t pay enough to live there comfortably, at least as an entry level ESL/TOEFL teacher with basic qualifications lol

I think more girls there use tinder than in Tier 2 cities. If tinder works for you in middle Europe you should do even better in Shanghai

I would assume Shanghai is one of the best if your profile is somewhat competitive, because in non international cities there's not gonna be many profiles to swipe on dating apps. If you want constant slays and quality with dating apps its gotta be Shanghai and Beijing no?

Nah Beijing doesn't have a lot.
Shanghai definitely has the biggest user base but the problem is the competitive lifestyle I guess, and if the average "high quality" girl there expects you to be a millionaire betabux

in short, the youtube guy cmilk had an old video where he goes on tantan (dude is ltn on a good day) and gets like 60 or more likes a day on tantan. I personally had this experience roughly 7 years ago in china. it was great.

the consensus overall seems to be that those days are over, and there are no alternatives that are being discussed anywhere

I think part of it is changes in social media usage. girls are overall just wiser to getting pumped and dumped by normies (they still cant resist chad though.) but they no longer expect commitmen from normies and so have ZERO incentive to even talk to you.

half of it is probably just that chinese are prouder of themselves now, and having less sex, and the gender imbalance is finally coming home to roost. money surely plays a part too. they want BIG bucks and there are corrupt factory owners that do throw that money around liberally. half of the women wont even look at a normal rich guy. I have seen them literally laugh off HTN chinese guys just for trying to talk to them. there is a spirit of arrogance that bleeds into every aspect of the society.

another big chunk as you mentioned is that in a city of 20 million, which is not even that large by chinese standards, there are at least half a million chads going around. women wont even look at you even if they have no chance with chad.

honestly I'd like to delve into a really good discussion on the issue with someone who is as or morek nowledgeable than me. I invested quite a lot of time in china and taiwan. that said, since the rooshvforums died, these people are in short supply. for the moment I am cutting my losses.

Seems like you can get a decent place for as little as 3-5k RMB a month, but most of the nicer apartments start at the 5-7k range or so…

I cold approach. I do not run IG game, though maybe I should. I have not anecdotally heard of anyone lower than a chadlite that makes ig game work.

tantan used to be really good. it is NOT good now, which, if you are thinking critically, must reveal something crucial about the app itself changing, or all other dating apps simultaneously changing, or china itself changing. I think china changed. generally speaking the other dating apps are even worse than tantan. I dont think tantan changed the algo much, and even if it did, you would think there would still be a single functional app. there does not appear to be, and so this seems indicative that china changed. you should feel free to make a counterargument. I'd like to get to the bottom of it myself

Im sure the place has gotten worse compared to almost a decade ago but name a place that hasn't. Online game has declined everywhere so its no surprise that China isn't an exception. Outside of the big 4, I would think that day game is still very viable especially in the provincial capitals provided you speak decent Mandarin no?

I remember some guys on the old forum said that asking for directions yielded great results in the 2010s which is also my go to style type of approach when Im abroad. Even with higher amounts of nationalism and social anxiety in gen z women when you are looking at the smaller cities which again are massive by western standards and have way fewer foreigners, I would think things are still good compared to other places given the sheer number of girls. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

The avg monthly salary in Tier 2s is slightly less than 1k usd per month per person. Even teachers at the lowest end still make at least 2x minimum that in these places. To use the lingo here the avg westerner mogs the avg chinese dude financially and statistically there are only so many millionaires in these cities.

instead, if i want to slay, i’d either have to go to zog guangzhou or chengdu where rap culture is popular and be carried by my phenotype

you could prob live cheaper than $2300 tbh, it’s just i calculate it based on going to a cafe atleast 6 days a week where i’d prob spend an average of $10

good boutique cafes are expensive in shanghai
