this works best in the winter months, where you can claim you holiday to southeast asia to avoid to cold winters of seoul

atleast it works for me and it’s what all the posh gen z koreans do

i guess it could require you to know a bit about korea or japan in case the southeast asians ask

what’s the equivalent for europe? “i live in london but spend winter in barcelona”?

I doubt it would be as effective in Europe, most people are pretty proud and happy in their countries. Maybe if you go to eastern europe or something like Greece the perceived difference in status might be noticeable

As for claimed city of residence, I'd guess any major developed city would work: Stockholm, Paris, London etc.
