Is there any empirical evidence that CP being illegal actually helps anyone at all? The only thing I've seen is some financial restitution to victims but that doesn't require people being locked up or put on probation/parole to do. Just order people pay a fine like actual normal countries like Germany do.

Child porno should be a misdemeanor crime, punishable by fines and not time spent in jail.

You'd obviously want to minimize the spread of cp right? If it wasn't illegal for porn sites to host it, at least some of them would. Making it more accessible is obviously not good.

I get what you're saying, but if there were videos of somebody like molesting you you'd want the people who watched it to be punished. In a world where it's legal, someone sending videos of a child being molested to the actual victim would be misdemeanor harassment at worst.
