Distraction is definitely a side effect. I've spent a lot of money and career opportunity cost on geomaxing. But it has forced me into self improvement and it lowers my inhibition/risk aversion. If I was asexual I'd probably be a comfort addict like a lot of the people I see around me. Maybe I'd still be motivated by my hatred for wageslavery and obedience though.
