if the Philippines gets a bit better infra, and less poverty, it would unlock the equivalent of 2 times Thailand or even more, considering how many young women there are and they all speak english

This is why statistics about the total number of visitors are somewhat useless, considering that the vast majority of tourists in Asia are from other asian countries (for now), even if a place see a drop in total numbers it's still possible that the competition is getting stronger if more and more percentage of the total is coming from white countries, philippines and thailand come to mind, they saw a reduction on the total but an actual increase from westerners

While this is true, its still majority. Yes more westerners go there but compare the alternative (like Thailand or Bali) it's still neglible in a place with 80 million people. Also I prefer Filipino culture and language is much easier to learn. The worst I heard was post covid.
