i found an easy way to get approached in China. Basically sit down somewhere like a subway, take some post it and study Chinese. You’re basically studying writing Chinese characters on your post it with a small pen you’ve conveniently taken.
I usually never get approached but just today I did this and got approached two times in the subway, one time by a guy and one time by a 21 relatively attractive girl who opened with « 你会说中文吗 »？
When they see a foreigner most Chinese people will be shy and might think you don’t speak so they don’t strike up awkward conversations but with this technique, they are way more open to coming up to you.
