From what I can tell, tantan turned into dogshit, lots of scammers or marketers. Weirdly enough some of them got super bitchy when I asked simple questions (Like "what's your name?" "我不告诉你“. Tinder might be the best dating app to meet people who can speak english and know western culture. Though still imo not that good.
The real play is to use RedNote to meet people, there's certain tags you can use to meet people to go clubbing or dating. There's also certain apps that chinese people use to meet girls (think Soul is one of them). But the catch is that you usually need good mandarin, and being a foreigner isn't really a halo.
Objectively number 1 way is still to go up to girls to ask them for their wechat lol.
