depends on the country man
east asian countries will be more expensive than SEA with the exception of singapore which is very expensive
plane tickets will be the most expensive obviously and usually costs around $2200 NZD for tickets to and from your location+travel insurance
accomodation will be cheaper if you use hostels instead of hotels
my recent stay in SG cost $600 NZD for accomodation for 14 days in a hostel, you will probably pay double that for hotel
you have NZ citizenship so you can stay in most asian places for up to 90 days with no visa
