Yeah, use it to Geomaxx then work on other goals while you're out there.

Get a 3 month visa for Thailand, then explore some other countries in the region.

take out the standard 9000 student loan that everyone gets then you have 18k to geomax for 10 months

Good idea. My credit is pretty good too so i could in theory geomax for like 2 years
