You have to control for appearances and play with her emotions every so often. You need to be a certain looks/status level(being white and good looking in Latin America and Asia does this automatically), she has to know that you have options and she has to know that you have no problem leaving her. She needs to think that she can't do better than you

And you’re also trading your freedom in one way or another, instead of your boss (or clients whatever) having power over you, now this woman has power over you.
