There's a burger stand here in Malacca run by some rather fanatical Muslims who have Arabic religious chants going on a loudspeaker all day long. Got a double beef special, it came with about 200 grams of beef patty. Properly beefy too, heavy and kinda dry with a ground-beef texture. Sits like a lump of lead in your belly.
The menu price? 6 ringgit (1.27 USD). Single patty option costs 4 RM (85 cents). A "special" layer of egg on top costs a whopping 21 cents extra. Lettuce, onion and pickles come with; it only lacks tomato. Wash it down with delicious iced tea brewed by the glass for 1.5 RM (32 cents).
Sure, a 30 gram "beef" burger in the Philippines may only sell for 25 pesos (46 cents), but they are trash by comparison.
