Is it possible to live in Thailand on $1.5k a month? (not counting the costs of visa and plane tickets because I have already saved for that). Or should I look for another country, e.g. the Philippines or Vietnam?

Yes, absolutely...especially the northern city of Chiang Mai. I lived there during most of my of time in Thailand. 1.5K/month is plenty to live a comfortable life there. My budget back then was around 1K a month and I did fine. With inflation this budget should be like 1.2K now, but 1.5K USD is solid.

best way is to plan. Use facebook marketplace. Select the city/place you want to live in. And search out apartments/houses. That will give you an idea how much monthly rent you will spend. That should be your biggest cost (besides pussy).

Thanks for all your tips. So let's assume that I will try to live on $1k and spend $500 on escort girls. Unless I can find a girl for free. But I doubt it even though I'm white >6' and have blue eyes. Shy and I speak little English.

idk about bangkok but in phuket nowadays its 80-100 euro for 2 hours jfl
escortmaxing in thailand is fucking dumb now

Two weeks in Bangkok cost me $412. Two weeks in Metro Manila cost me $373.

yeah you can

my monthly costs while living there averaged to about 2k a month and that includes me going on a vacation to a different country in the region every month

To further elaborate, this is what I have spent in three weeks here in Thailand. For convenience' sake, I used 1 USD : 35 THB. Of course, everyone's spending habits are drastically different. The truth is, Thailand isn't just for whoremaxxers and spendy hedonists. It's even a great country for quiet loners.

No, I do not have a budget. Being a stoic/anhedonic sort, I've found Thailand to be a great country for those who are content with quality two-star lodging and working-class cuisine. Yeah, I could live a lot cheaper here if I wanted to povertymaxx. You can find fan-cooled rooms for half the price of air-conditioned rooms. Genuinely shitty hotels seem rare in Thailand, though some cheap rooms are very small. Hostel bunks cost as low as $3/night in Chiang Mai. Two rice meals and a few street snacks a day will cost you under $4. My $8/day food expenditures may seem like penny pinching, but the reality is the opposite. Overeating has been a chronic problem for me here, especially when visiting markets with unique pastries and other tasty snacks. You just have to try everything.

Total expenses: $620 ($30/day)
Lodging: $313 ($15/night)
Food and beverages: $168.50 ($8/day)
Weed: $55
Beer: $54.50
Transport: $17.50
Laundry: $5.25
SIM & plan: $5.65
Misc: $0.65 (a couple ten baht tips for the porters, I think)

Weed is the only expense which feels expensive, especially in Bangkok. In Khon Kaen, top shelf weed costs $8.50 per gram, versus $17 or even $20+ per gram for the sticky icky in Bangkok. Had a couple bad experiences smoking in weed shops, one in Bangkok and one in Khon Kaen; as usual, brownoids who smoke sativa get god complexes and often become hostile toward me for no apparent reason. Other countries are also cheaper for boozers than Thailand.

Depend how comfortable you want to live but yeah 1,500$ per month is more than enough to live in BKK

If you plan to date multiple girls per week the expenses add up though....good looking girls expect to be taken to good restaurants and rooftop lounges and these aren't cheap.
If you date mediocre looking girls (the average Thai girl is pretty ugly) you can just meet them in a shopping mall and order some food in a cafe...so it really depend

Food is cheap but I like to spend my day outside enjoying a coffee and some food in one of the cafes in sukhumvit or a shopping mall....watching people and socializing with some foreigners if I can...again, expenses can add up

Gyms can be either dirt cheap or very expensive like Virgin Active...again depends on what you want

I like to stay comfy so I spend more than your average backpacker and DN in Bangkok but if you don't go crazy you can live without problems with 1500$

Bangkok is a nice place to live in SEA but if the only thing you care about is girls, there are better places in SEA although less developed and comfortable to stay compared to BKK

Which places are those? Manila?

well i always assume the worst. Men stay dry until they are not. But we have needs.

now, you have to balance that. Too much pussy pay chasing and you will forget about real girls, and you get too thirsty for them. And they know it.

so you gotta have balance grasshopper, what i do. once i meet a few that i like. I let them contact me. I never contact them. This way. it reduces the amount of pay for play. then when im not doing that, I am always flirting with EVERYTHING. giving my number out. Really dont' give a fuck if it amounts to anything. You never know when the fish bites your rod. ya know.

and this guy gets it

the truth is, if you want cheap, and hotter than average girl, without spending the "gringo" fee. as this poster is saying, going to roof top bars

you gotta get tribal man. go OUTSIDE of the normal tourist zones and no, i don't mean the slums. I mean, you gotta pick a place that is WAY out of the way. like you are the rare white dude there. They cannot ask you to go to any rooftop bars if there are no rooftops LOL

YOu will get MUCH hotter girls, much cheaper. but this is a yin and yang to EVERYTHING in life. Means you won't have the "amazon" lifestyle. You know what i mean. No easy "meh, just want to order something online" sorta bullshit. you will be far removed from that shit.

but the plus, rent will be a FUCK TON cheaper, so will food. But again, with that. yin and yang. Chances are, you won't be shopping in a fancy super market your used to. When i lived in cuba, the meat was an open meat market, NO REFRIDGERATION> fucking hocks of meat on hooks and the flies were on it. I was like NO FUCKING WAY, i kept thinking, fly larva hatching in my stomach. And the smell......holy fuck. only time i wanted to wear a mask and smell my own breath.
Like example, you want to live a beach bum lifestyle and eat out every day, plan on being off the radar, and with no aircon and just fans. You could probably find a beach front house, on some remote but populated area, an hour away from the city. And pay MAXIMO 300 USD a month for a 2 bedroom comfy fucking place. And probably as cheap at 200 or 300 dollars for food and utilities for the month. But you will be doing dishes by hand. And when you need something, for example...more towels. You won't have a walmart like choice. it will be THAT corner store there, has these towels take it or leave it. Or you make a special trip into the city, for all that shit (bring a suit case to carry it all)

but with amenities and the standard of living YOU are used to, always comes with a price. ALWAYS.

Living in jungle for girls who barely speak english or none at all does not look like a good tradeoff

im not talking about the jungle bro, it's an expression

im talking about "out of the way"

and what do you expect going in another country that english is not the primary language? LOL

you want educated girls, your going to be paying educated girl prices. Exactly what my response was to the poster who DOES NOT want to pay educated girl prices, for nice girls.

there are two kinds of girls in foreign countries that speak english well. educated girls, who expect almost western like treatment. Or hookers, that have fucked alot of foriegners enough to learn english. SO THOUSANDS of guys. And trust me, not an exaggeration.......those girls are broken and evil and you CANNOT make them into girlfriends. EVER. ....period. they will take you for as much as they can. in the end, being more expensive than your educated girl.

so, i answered him in what i know and his criteria. Wants good girls, attractive girls, without paying the gringo prices. You gotta live a little out of the way.

why do you think i live in the north of jakarta? North of jakarta SUCKS if you want a clean, modern, sophisticated area, and to meet educated girls. That's what down south is for. But.....down south there are a ton of fucking gringos (bules). So while i am up north and i get special treatment. kids want to high 5 me all the time and surround me with HELLO MR. People start talking to me for NO reason. Simply to practice their english with the white guy. Girls hit on me up here, regularly. But........ Down south, no one gives a fuck if your a foreigner. So your "white" appeal means less. And guess that that means. Yin and yang my friend, If they ain't appealed by your whiteness, then they are appealed by the only OTHER thing you have....money.
