This is a legit score, and the test was administered by a licensed psychologist. The test was done when I was 19.




I guess I'm low-key bragging, but I don't have much else to brag about in my life.
It's nothing absurd, though, only the top 8%. Definitely above average but not genius tier or anything.
I wonder if I could've got a higher score if I had eaten beforehand and hadn't gotten up early to meet with the psychologist, which gave me stress.
It might be lower depending on when the test was normed. I think the general rule is that the test is 0.3 points off for every year that passes.
I don't know if that's the case here.

I'm not trying to rub it in, but I was genuinely very shocked when I first saw it. I thought my IQ would've been around 90-95.
In retrospect, I shouldn't be too surprised because I spoke my first sentence around 8 months old, and I could write my full name when I was 4 years old, when the other kids in my class were struggling to write their first names.

I owe it to my mom and my maternal grandmother. They would read to me a lot as a kid, and my mom used to be an English teacher.
Either that or their genetics. I think I would've ended up retarded if it were up to my dad or maternal grandfather because they just sit in front of the TV all the time and rarely taught me anything of value. In fact, they actually taught me some wrong things.

Have any of you guys taken a legit IQ test before? (Not that free online garbage).

Results
Neuroticism was strongly associated with increased risk for depression and higher psychological distress in both samples. Although intelligence conferred no consistent independent effects on depression, it did increase the risk for depression across samples once neuroticism was adjusted for.

Results suggest that higher intelligence may ameliorate the association between neuroticism and self-reported depression although no significant interaction was found for clinical MDD. Intelligence was inversely associated with psychological distress across cohorts. Conclusions​

From two large cohort studies, our findings suggest intelligence acts a protective factor in mitigating the effects of neuroticism on psychological distress. Intelligence does not confer protection against diagnosis of depression in those high in neuroticism.

The biggest risk factor is neuroticism. Not intelligence. You can be low IQ and neurotic or high IQ and neurotic. That's a much bigger predictor.

They test your IQ against those of the same age, plus we don't know when that test was normed so It could be much lower.
I don't know how reliably the scores carry over as you age.

True. I meant top 1% though. I guess it depends on personality type as well. If you're high IQ and neurotic, probably. But if you have high levels of self-discipline and conscientiousness and aren't depressed, you'll probably be doing other things.
