Rance told me to try Fukuoka if I ever go to Japan so maybe you should go there and try it out, then get back to us on here with a field report lol
Apparently it’s like the Busan of Japan with nice beaches and lots of young people because of a good job market plus the weather, so it seems like a good spot, especially also because the competition will be much lesser than in Osaka and Tokyo…

Never been to Okinawa but have met plenty of soldiers from there. The vibe I get is that it's fantastic to visit but brutal for dating and long-term life in general. The Western saturation is obviously very high so girls are choosier with foreigners. There is also a somewhat pronounced anti-Western sentiment because the soldiers tend to cause trouble. Imagine Twitch streamers but there's 100x as many and they have guns. Okinawa is also not really "Japan" Japan at all and is more of its own thing culturally.

You could probably draw a lot of parallels to Hawaii tbh. I wouldn't want to live in Honolulu. I also wouldn't recommend someone to visit Hawaii if they wanted to get a taste of what the United States is like, because it's not really "America" America.

Xavist is right about Fukuoka. It's the only large city in Japan that's located on a warm beach. Lots of young professionals and startup companies. A bit cheaper and fewer foreigners to boot. Good airport access to Korea, China, Taiwan, and of course, Okinawa.
