Does anyone bring back souvenirs from their travels?

Not talking about those cheap Chinese trinkets but like genuinely interesting commemorative items or souvenirs. I feel like globalization and industrialization have killed any local craftsmanship that might have once produced something worth buying.

The most interesting thing I got was an old book, a family heirloom from a 100-year-old Japanese woman who died several months after giving it to me. She had no surviving children or family, which is why she gave it to me. It’s from the mid 1800s and written in Classical Japanese script so pretty hard to decipher.

I know most of you just care about getting girls since this is a forum for geomaxing, but for those interested in history and things beyond that, does anyone have any good stories or advice on this matter?

usually i’ll buy books that i can’t find online

when i was heading across west china earlier this year i bought a few pieces of silk items

for the past couple years i haven’t had a home so had to be conscious about what i buy due to space but now that i’ve recently got an apartment, im gonna start buying larger artworks that i come across on my expeditions

Yeah I agree I've mostly been buying books too. Easy to carry and I can associate the story with that place.

I've wanted to pick up some artwork as well, just seems kinda expensive. But if I come across something good I'll bite the bullet.

I've found that vintage markets or second hand stores can be good since it's mostly older stuff that's genuine but it's kinda hit or miss.

For example, I found this Swatiska pocket watch at a market in Athens but didn't end up purchasing since the owner tried to scam me
