Do you travel with 2 phones in case one gets stolen or lost?

I plan ahead. I plan and analyze for a future that may or may not happen.
I was thinking about travelling with 2 laptops and 2 phones (with 2 sim cards, 2 separate plans and 2 different mobile carriers) in case one fails, gets lost or gets stolen.
I shall also print out my passport on paper multiple times in case someone steals my passport.
Can you fault any of this?

Yes, especially in China where you need it for everything (good idea to always have your passport on you there too as well, so copying is probably a good idea as well). 2 different carriers and 2 laptops is kind of goofy though

I finally made the leap to iPhone in like 2022. I kept my Android from before then. This has saved me in handful of situations in Japan where an app just didn't work properly on iOS, or was discontinued from the App Store and needed to be installed manually via .apk file, or where I needed a second phone to verify something on the first phone.

However, imo, a lot of what you're saying sounds a bit paranoid. I think you'd be find with one phone and simply having a photo of your passport on that phone.

I can't speak for SEA but Japan/Korea/China are not alien worlds. If your phone or carrier has an issue just go to the electronics store and explain your situation. They will sell you a burner phone or otherwise resolve your problem.

Yeah, northern and central Euros are autistic. I was 0.5 over and I had to wear go to the toilet and wear all my underwear, tshirts and coats at once to make it under the limit.
