As many of you also know I'm the biggest shill for HelloTalk.

Well, I've never really used traditional dating apps, but after using Tinder for a couple days I have WAY more messages than I know how to deal with, and I think I'm getting a couple dates lined up now. I only swiped on girls I really liked too.

I just don't have enough time for HelloTalk. I'll always fight for its efficacy but with Tinder, at least I know the girls are immediately sexually interested in me. Each individual "lead" is worth more than HelloTalk in my opinion, so I'm focusing my time on Tinder.

I will at some point create a proper post detailing my China experience so far, and of course, include the visa and immigration guide as promised.

My impression is that LATAM can be as easy as Asia depending heavily on your phenotype. Tall, wide, muscular, tan skin, beard, that kind of stuff will take you far in LATAM. Conversely: middling height, skinny, lean, light skin, clean shaven, that kind of stuff will take you far in Asia. So you have to judge yourself honestly to see how your SMV will measure up.

Everyone so far seems legitimate, except for one girl (my first match) who wanted my WeChat really bad and now constantly sends me messages like "I want a rich boyfriend" and "give me money it's my birthday". So probably a sugar baby fishing for a paycheck.

Tinder in Japan IS all hookers and fake profiles, which is very different from my experience with it in China.

I haven't tried Tantan yet. I've heard around the block that its glory days are over and it's mostly scammers. But, for geomax research, I'll give it a try!

Life was never bad for me, just boring and soul-draining. I got introduced to Asia through my fixation on Japan, and the geomaxxing came later. Had no plans to be a crazy player, but after arrival to Japan I realized how easy it was to have a lot of relationships with many pretty girls. Decided to delve into the specifics of that and the rest is history.

Unrelated update: I found using GPT (or preferably Gemini) to write messages is quite good. Here's the caveat: ask the AI to write your messages at your current Chinese level. For me that would be HSK2. Then read them back and make sure you understand them. I like to use prompts like "write it naturally and casually", while explaining the context of it being flirtatious on a dating app.

More gym is always better. Even though I don't like to admit it since I'm a skinnycel, girls do stare at muscles if you have them. That being said the most important thing is to maintain a slim frame. The "thin but muscular" look in Japan is called 細マッチョ (hosomacho) and is sort of the ideal, so google that for reference for the ideal body type.

Yeah I wasn’t sure if you were setting it to 25~50km or max radius “Hellotalk-style” which is why I mentioned Shanghai/nearby cities.
Obviously focusing on nearby is best, especially for short-term travel. But yeah by “run out of swipes” I meant running out of girls in a 25~50km (whatever I set it as) area before it just showed me a blank screen saying there’s noone left in the area. (Which isn’t true in an absolute sense - the algorithm does slowly trickle girls it wasn’t showing you before but you’re still effectively cooked at that point). This can happen in like 5 minutes in the smaller cities lol. If these 2-3 main dating apps were as popular in China as they were elsewhere like in SEA/the west it would be madness.
But yeah I’m pretty sure TanTan is a total meme filled with scammers but I’d like to be proven wrong. I used it and had no idea wtf was going on.
(TanTan IS okay for reverse geomaxxing though with international students, since some real people definitely do use it and the number of bots in random North American/European cities is pretty negligible)

Yeah Japan is a very different ball game in terms of how you gotta talk, walk, text, dress, and behave in general. I've said it before and I'll say it again, what they want is a "Japanese guy in a foreign body". I recommend watching anime and dramas with a focus on serious romance, try to emulate the patterns of the "ikemen" guys in those media. It's too much for me to explain in one go, but in general there's an emphasis on being mysterious, soft-spoken, and subtle.

I already get the feeling that Chinese people are much more similar to Americans than they are to Japanese. Japan is just truly a very unique country in terms of social psychology.

Hangzhou is a good-sized city, the right balance, imo. The downtown area next to the lake (Hubin Yintai in77 I think it's called) is slammed with more stuff than you'd know what to do with. The heat is brutal for most people but I quite enjoy it, as long as it doesn't go above 37 degrees or so, which it rarely does outside of the afternoon.

Hangzhou is noticeably more "PG" than Tokyo, in a way that's hard to explain. In Tokyo, there's a lot of dirt and grime, and you hear a lot of people yelling and screaming in the streets, people openly drinking beer and stumbling around, even sleeping on the street, etc. In Hangzhou it is very "pristine", even in what is supposedly the nightlife district there is no trash on the ground, you see a lot of children with their parents, nobody drinking alcohol in public, people seem calmer and more restrained, and the whole city goes dark after about midnight.

"DNA2" is an older anime that's literally about a guy whose goal is to impregnate as many women as possible. Pretty funny and can teach you some cheesy romantic lines.

Great Teacher Onizuka is an awesome classic about a teacher, can't go wrong watching it, I wouldn't emulate 95% of the speech in this show but about once per episode Onizuka changes into "serious teacher" mode which is good speech to emulate.

Romance anime movies I've seen are kimi no na wa, A Silent Voice, and "I want to eat your pancreas". First two are good, third is mid. Kimi no na wa is a must watch. All provide natural dialogue throughout
