During the day only one time but they were too young like 16 and wanted a photo. I only got daytime approached like 3 times by girls in my life and it was all in the west. I mean most do not speak english and are kind of shy why would they approach during the day.
At night it is another story but I do not go out at night currently

Not exactly a lot and not exactly cold approach but in a night club they might dance on you/close to you and you can easily start dancing with them. But Tier 1 cities nightlife better for being cold approached by actual english speaking ones

You need to avoid the clubs where they sit around tables and where there is no dancefloor because there it can be very hard to socialize. Other story is if you can build a chinese social circle and join their table this is the best case scenario, you can then literally invite girls to join your table and this works without knowing any Chinese
