if you stay in Sukhumvit you get the impression that thailand is on the brink of becoming a first world country. clean streets, civilized traffic compared to SEA, any food except thai streetfood has become pricey like in europe.

yesterday i had a regular date: 4 beers, a round of pool, smoke shisha. 1000 baht. wft? those are european prices. and what did i get out of it? "i go home now, i work tomorrow". i could have just banged a freelancer here for that much money instead.

sure, i know sukhumvit is not representative because it's basically like a manhatten catering to coomers. you certainly know you're in coomer zone when bargirls shout "oh young boy" at you as a 40 year old.

and my dear thais have changed too. they have become smug and chubby. both the quantity and quality of my matches have dropped significantly compared to other SEA countries and thailand in the past.

and no, i think it's not only the white tourist masses that changed them. or instagram. it is the complacent attitude of newly rich women who think they don't need anyone and are perfect as they are. Despite being fatter than ever before. I also frequently spot other signs of degeneracy like being tattooed all over.

I was in Bangkok 5 months ago. I can easily see myself spending 3K a month easy there. Same amount I spend in a major CE city. Bangkok has become a global first tier city. The value for money is still there though.

but condos are not really available for short term because of the laws. sukhumvit has a lot of decent hotel offers and asok is logistically well located. and if you search a bit you can still find good deals like thai streetfood for 60 baht or 1h oil massage for 300 baht.
