For starters as you guys know the easy pussy is done for in Japan. My gripes are above this though, and nothing to do with this.
Talk about an overrated country, it can be pretty here and there but it has this depressing energy to it. Now that I see japs up close and personal I’m no longer attracted to them. They don’t look attractive.
The entire society is built on the idea that you live in a certain “way”. Condos are all built with the idea that you’ll just be sleeping like a little wagie there and spending the rest of your time outside or at work at an office.
For Me as a condo bedrotter chronically online long stay expat this is a huge issue. Since the climate is nice in most of Japan they never bothered to make any interiors nice for rotting in. Any “real” Airbnb or hotel with such a setup is extraordinarily expensive and far and few between. It’s like cheap little chink boxes 10 sqm and grand penthouses for 10 that’s 15,000/month.
Restaurants are built tiny so you have to sit in proximity of people this makes me extremely nervous and uneasy. It triggers my flight of fight and I can’t think straight.
There’s a lack of a serious slave class so stuff isn’t easy. I can’t get my laundry picked up and done same day by someone else without effort and so on. Muh Japanese efficiencies. The bureaucracy is annoying as fuck.
Let’s not forget about the awful and hard visa policies, insulated culture and so on, just none of it serves any of my needs. Not saying I deserve stuff but just saying as an expat it’s a totally overrated and awful destination.
Tl; dr: Japan for the Japanese. Go to Japan live a Japanese way of life.
